Many cities and towns are lucky if they have at least one great hotdog stand. With the Texas Inn and the Weenie Stand #1, Lynchburg has two. The Weenie Stand #1 has been a local Lynchburg gem since 1970. The dogs here are regularly boiled, but you can request that they be grilled. I prefer grilled to boiled. The buns are steamed and you won't find any nuclear red dogs served here. With my Coke, I had two dogs all the way. That means: sweet yellow slaw, mustard, onions and the stand's homemade chili. Both of my dogs were outstanding! I also sampled some equally outstanding bowl chili that one of my roadies had ordered. This place is definitely one of Virginia's best. The #1 location is open 24 hours Mon-Sat, but is closed on Sunday. And they do take VISA. Enjoy!
