Not only is Winston-Salem a great Barbeque town, it's also an excellent hotdog town. And one of the city's best is Kermit's Hot Dog House (since 1966). I had two of their excellent grilled, nuclear red, all beef, Elm-Hill hotdogs that came with mustard, onions, homemade slaw and locally made B & J chili. The buns are toasted. Their hotdogs are cooked by heating them, not boiling them, in water. They can also be grilled or deep fried. Although I did not have one of their cheese dogs, I did get to sample some of their famous pimento cheese in the form of a superb grilled pimento cheese sandwich. Kermit's is open Monday-Saturday from 5:00am to 10:00pm and they are closed on Sunday. They also have curb service that starts @ 4:00pm Monday-Friday and @ 12:00 on Saturday. Get a B&G pie for the road. Cash is King here, no credit cards. Enjoy!
