A eight blocks down from the Met and then a straight shot on a mostly tree lined E 74th St. Simple enough and it certainly seemed pretty darn close on the map. Well, after a much longer than it should have taken (0.6 mile walk), I was just happy to get out of the heat for a bit and ready to down a cold Coke. Even though the place was packed and loud I was still seated very quickly. Known for their burgers, I got an amazing Melon burger (cooked to medium) topped with caramelized onions, ketchup and mustard with pickles and onions on the side. Their chili topped with onions and cheese is also superb. J.G. Melon was established in1972 on Manhattan's Upper-East-Side. 2019 review pre-pandemic.
this is great to know you went to new york
This is very Big City for Chopped Onion. It made me feel like I was back home -- when I lived there. But I don't know if I'd like a burger made out of cantaloupe or watermelon; maybe that's how they do things in the Big Apple, when they make a Melonburger. They should do a Bigappleburger! Anyway, it looks delightful and the pics are superb as always.
