With the Varsity in Atlanta, Nu-Way in Macon and Charlie Joseph's in La Grange, Georgia's triangle of hotdog excellence completes itself. Charlie Joseph's started in 1920 and can be found near the Troup County courthouse facilities. Now in to its fifth generation, Charlie Joseph's is still family owned and operated. In 1920, when Charlie Joseph opened, his restaurant was the first in Troup County. You can order @ the counter inside or @ their window. I had a cold glass bottle Coke with a chili dog and a slaw dog. In addition to the chili and slaw, both dogs were topped with ketchup, mustard, onions and their home-made relish. The beef and pork dogs are boiled and the buns are steamed. Both dogs were excellent! Although I did not get to try one, Charlie Joseph's is also well known for their lemon sours. Jeff Foxworthy and Steve Bartkowski are both regular customers. Note: If you are a customer long enough they will name a sandwich after you.
