As the crow flies it's a straight shot from I-40, as the road drives it's a little less straight, but it's still pretty close. Open since 1959, Cardin's Drive-In comes complete with carhops, curb-side-service and window trays. All-American favorites like cheeseburgers, hamburgers, hotdogs and milkshakes are their best sellers. They also have fried pickles and fried Mac & cheese. I got a regular hotdog (mustard, onions and chili with beans) a slaw dog and a very good vanilla shake. The beef and pork hotdogs and the buns are steamed. Although my regular hotdog was good, my slaw-dog was even better. Cardin's is open year-round, M-F from 5am-11pm, Saturday 5am-12pm and Sunday 7am-11pm. If you are a University of Tennessee fan, then you probably already know about Cardin's Drive-In and if you are not (Go Dawg's) just be aware that this place does get packed after UT football games. Cardin's Drive-In is about 20 min. from the UT campus. Enjoy!
