There was a time in America when most cities and towns across the fruited plain had their own soda fountains, usually located inside the local drugstore or pharmacy. Today, a rare few all original working fountain/pharmacies remain. Although they lost their pharmacy in 2009, Brent's Drug (Mississippi's oldest soda fountain since 1946) is still one of the best. And that's probably why Brent's recently had a staring role in the movie "The Help" with scenes shot inside and outside of the famous fountain. You can get an egg & olive on rye but I opted for their excellent cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup, onions and pickles and a great thick vanilla shake (Blue Bunny) with huge lavender straw. Enjoy!
