What began back in 1910 with Melton & Mosby Drug became Bell's in 1946 after it was acquired by Carol & Francis Bell. Now, in 2011, Bell's Drugstore is still a working pharmacy complete with an original soda fountain. The fountain's best sellers are their lemonade, orangeade, milkshakes and unique to Bell's, their lemon ice, made with two freshly squeezed lemons, crushed ice and a dash of salt. I opted for a vanilla shake made with local Hart Ice Cream (good shakes). The fountain also has: snow cones for 50¢ (medium) and a buck for large, malts $2.60, shakes $2.50, lemonade-lemon ice-orangeade $1.00 for a medium and $ 2.00 for a large, drinks 50¢ for a medium and $1.00 for a large, canned drinks are 53¢, sundaes small $1.75 and $2.00 large, sodas & floats $2.50, hot cocoa 50¢, ice cream $2.75 pint and $4.25 quart, and dip ice cream 85¢. The ice cream flavors are: vanilla, cherry-vanilla, strawberry, orange sherbet, green mint, cookie dough, peppermint, turtle-trax and chocolate.
